So it turns out...
...I really, really enjoy mentoring songwriters. Who knew?! I didn't, til I tried it.
I’ll be honest. I stalled on trying out this whole songwriting clinic/songwriting mentorship thing for quite some time after I’d had the idea because I had some kind of inner narrative which told me that if I offered something like this, it would mean to the world that I’d given up on my artist career and on my personal artistic work.
It seems wholly absurd to me now—and WOW, is that perspective grounded in vanity. But hey—it’s all part of the process, including egoic machinations like ‘I’m not going to do this thing that would bring me a lot of joy and personal fulfillment because I’m worried somebody might think I’m …’ _______________. (If you know this feeling, you can feel free to fill in the blank.)
It turns out I really like doing all of this. I have two songwriting mentorship clients (was originally going to take on 4, but it seemed wise to start slow) who I meet with weekly and that has been so enriching and fun and interesting—for me, yes, and I especially hope for them!
I have one clinic left in this run, on April 22. It is fully virtual, and includes three sessions between 10:30am central and 5:30pm central on that Saturday. If you’d like to come, I still have spots left. It’s affordably priced at $111 and the reviews from people who have attended have been, so far, amazing. I’m very grateful for each person who has given their time and presence to the processes that happen in these clinics. They include solo writing exercises, group sharing and processing, and some sharing from me about what I have learned about both the inner life of being an artist and the practicals of trying to share that art with the world around me. I really would love if you joined. Tickets and more info available here.
"Prismatic is a helpful platform for creators to join together and learn about important subjects for songwriters. It is so refreshing to build a community around songwriting and to exchange ideas and experiences with others. I am so thankful that Audrey shared her insights with us. This left me feeling empowered and excited for my future in music. Thank you, Audrey!" - Paula
Thanks for considering attending, or for sharing with someone you think might love this—I would love to have you!
XO,
Audrey
So it turns out...
This is great, so important. Though I don't teach music at the school where I work, I have had numerous students over the years find out about my music/beatmaking/writing/etc, and have worked with them on their own projects in that mentorship role. Couldn't be more fulfilling!
Hi, I have recently discovered a song you released in 2015. I would really love to buy it, it is Arrow super duper remix version. I already purchased the available original version of Arrow from Apple, but it’s not the same. I have searched google for it, but paste magazine no longer allows people to buy it or donate to the artist (you). I wrote to paste magazine two weeks ago and they are silent. Could you somehow please put me out of my misery and make this song available? I’ll buy it, donate, whatever.
