As part of my documentary project on spiritual journeys, I interviewed one of the most prolific and celebrated Jewish liturgical composers of the last century who happened to say he did not believe in God (his name was Bonia Shur). I asked him why he composes liturgy if he does not believe in God. He said "I feel listened to." How beautiful is that!
