You probably already know Ruthie, but if you don’t; she is one of my dearest friends and chosen family, and she makes the funniest faces of anyone I know. Her embodiment and healing journey is nothing short of profound, and she’s one of the most important teachers in my life—but one thing I really love about her is that we can go from the most sincere and serious “spiritual” moment to listening to the raunchiest music you can possibly imagine or laughing til we cry at the absurdity of everything. If you find friends like that, hang on to them. I plan to hang on to this one! Every Wednesday (when we can) she and I have tea together. This is just a conversation I recorded after our tea ceremony was done. She kept pouring the water, and I recorded our chat, wherein I gave her seven brief prompts; including, weirdly, the word ‘centaur.’ (I don’t make it make sense, I just think of it y’all.)
These prompts bring forward conversations about shadow work, younger parts of ourselves, memories of time by the lake her grandfather built, the weeks she spent at a treatment facility just trying to get her body to fall asleep, and more.
As I’ve said before, talking to Ruthie and being in her tea room deeply calms my nervous system. I hope you enjoy our conversation and being in the tea room with us. Spread the word if you know anyone who might enjoy this—you can only hear it here.
Ruthie, her amazing story, and her newest offering, Love’s Invitation, can be found at her website and on Instagram.
